Holiday Stocking for Homeless Children                    

SEATTLE, WA- Lots of kids have wondered how Santa will get the presents under the tree if there's no chimney. But imagine having your child ask “How will Santa find us if we don't have a home?” It’s a reality for many homeless children across the Puget Sound area. This year "Holiday Stocking for Homeless Children” will reach 3,500 homeless kids in 79 area shelters with handmade stuffed Holiday Stockings.  This Annual effort will take place December 11th and 12th where over 350 volunteers will stuff and deliver handmade holiday stockings with new gifts and useful essentials for homeless children, ages birth through teen years, living in Puget Sound Area Shelters. Come and join us to see how a group of very special volunteers works to make the holiday a little brighter for some kids who need their help.

Homelessness is on the rise now. We anticipate an increase of 25% in the number of stockings for 2009. Which will bring our total to 3500 stockings. Holiday Stockings really appreciates all the efforts our 500 volunteers make throughout the year. Keep up the good work!

]]><![CDATA[Another Successful Year]]>Fri, 14 Dec 2007 12:51:53 -0800http://www.holidaystockings.org/1/post/2007/12/another-successful-year.htmlThis year we stuffed 2438 stockings for homeless children in 70 shelters throughout the puget sound region.  That is an increase from last year of 273 stockings and 20 shelters!  Thank you to all of you who came to help stuff last weekend.  This year we also had many really nice donations of toys and gifts.  So much so, that we couldn't fit all the candy that was donated!

This effort takes volunteer hours all year round, so thank you for all your efforts sewing, buying, organizing, stuffing and delivering!  We are so grateful for your efforts and the blessing of touching the lives of so many children. 

]]><![CDATA[How you can help]]>Fri, 26 Oct 2007 12:51:11 -0800http://www.holidaystockings.org/1/post/2007/10/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.htmlWe are busy getting last minute donations together.
You can help in a few ways:
*First you can host a donation box at your work, school, church or community store and bring donation to the Coast Guard base, Pier 36 on Friday, Dec. 7th from 1-6pm.
And let us know so we can post the site for others to drop off their donations.
*The second way you can help is through cash donations so we can buy items specifically requested by shelters in quantity.
*The third way is to help us sort the toys on Friday, Dec. 7th from 1-6pm
*And the forth way is we need 50 Shelter Captains on Sat, morning Dec. 8th, to ensure the stockings are stuffed and delivered to the shelter assigned to you.
We generally have plenty of volunteers to stuff stockings on Saturday morning so contact us early to make reservations.
